Minnetonka Swim Club Team Page
One of the advantages of Minnetonka Swim Club is that by being in the school pools, our swimmers have access to fins, pull buoys, paddles and kick boards that most clubs require their swimmers purchase.
That said, there are benefits to purchasing your own equipment—particularly fins (zoomers). Fins that do not fit can tear your swimmer’s skin. And, while our pools have boards, fins, and pull buoys, some of our practice groups have gotten big enough that there are not enough of these tools for every swimmer. In addition, if everyone brings their own equipment, there is a lot less transition time between sets as time is not wasted searching for the proper size fins. So, we do recommend the following equipment be purchased by swimmers and brought to every practice.
COMPETITION APPAREL:
Minnetonka Swim Club competes as part of the Twin Cities Swim Team. In order to emphasize this, we mandate the use of TC swim caps during competitions for those swimmers that use caps. These are ordered as a team twice a year, with the opportunity to have your swimmer's individual name on the cap "Generic" caps (with the TC logo but without your swimmer's names) will also be available through the team.
TEAM SUITS - We also STRONGLY encourage swimmers to wear a team suit during competition. This helps create a sense of team unity and like all the other team gear, you get a 20% discount on your team suit through Pure Blue Swim. Suits can be ordered below or by stopping by Pure Blue Swim Shop (please call Pure Blue for availability before stopping by).
GOLD GROUP RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT LIST
1. Zoomers (Be sure to get the RED ones)
2. Strokemaker Hand Paddles (Girls should get green-01 or yellow-02; Boys green-01, yellow-02 or red-03. The bigger/stronger you are, the larger paddle you should get)
3. Swimmer's Snorkel
4. Mesh Equipment Bag (Used to hold all your gear on the pool deck so it doesn't get mixed up with everyone else's gear)
SILVER GROUP RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT LIST:
1. Strokemaker Hand Paddles (We recommend the green-01 paddles for everyone in the silver group. Please check with the coach before getting a larger size)
2. Swimmer's Snorkel
3. Nose Plug (optional for use with the snorkel)
4. Rubber Training Fins
5. Mesh Equipment Bag (Used to hold all your gear on the pool deck so it doesn't get mixed up with everyone else's gear)
